Originally, we were buying a specific, finished house, purchased by speculators with the intention of flipping it to other buyers. When the contract expired, they lowered the price...but we realized this meant that the market was going down and we could get a possible BETTER deal on another house (this time eliminating the middle man).
We went over and found out that the prices HAD dropped (even lower than the other guys were asking).
We now will be having the house built for us. It will mostly based on pre-fab concepts they have (ours is called "the Savoy" model), with some modifications with our choices (kitchen layout, kitchen cabinets/countertops, etc.). We've ditched the cathedral ceiling in the entrance foyer in favor of instead having another bedroom upstairs (going from three to four...giving us a guest bedroom). We've also added a jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom.
I can't wait for it to be built.
Once construction starts you can expect to see weekly update photos. ("This is the foundation being poured", etc.).
Look at the possible floorplans
Looking at the main level, we skipped the optional fireplace and the optional bay window (unnecessary), but we are getting the "morning room" as they are calling the breakfast nook. We'll have the two car garage attached, so that graphic inside the garage shown will be the configuration of the kitchen door and pantry.
Upstairs, we'll have the second floor with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths.
We're not adding the second half bath in the basement.
I can't wait.
