Clerks 2: Electric Bugaloo

Yup, here I am back behind the counter again at Four Star Video, six years later. It was kind of weird. I pretty much just ran on sense memory. I came in, turned off the alarm, gathered the videos from the drop slot and it was like time had never passed (well, except for the fact that now the videos were DVDs instead of VHS and the store is roughly 1/3 it's former size).

I even had a daffy customer come in. She was one of the regulars and her grandson is home from a trip to the dentist. She had called ahead and had me put some movies aside for her. Old titles: Godfather 1 and 2 and Scarface. Okay, whatever.

I grabbed up the VHS tapes, since Jeff never bothered to replace these on disc and rented them to her. Packed them up into two bags since they were two tapes EACH (three in each bag).

She called ten minutes later when she'd gotten home. They no longer had a VCR. I told her to just come back in an hour when Jeff would be there, so he could help her pick something out and give her a refund/exchange.

How do you not know whether or not you still have a VCR? On top of that, how do you not notice that you are carrying out six video tapes (in two bags!) instead of three DVDs?

I just don't get these people.
