So, the third movie I saw Sunday (and the final film I saw at the festival this year), was Beverly Kills. The Festival page for it is here.
Years ago, at the first festival I attended whole hog, I saw a film called Fag Hag. I fell in love with it immediately. I kept me extremely entertained. I took Paul to see it when it was being shown again later that week. He loved it, too.
That first movie had a sort of early John Waters quality to it (in conversation with Damion, he mentioned that he's primarily influenced by the work of Pedro Amaldovar...I can see that too. His films are also quite quirky).
THIS film didn't disappoint either. Very funny. Great quirky characters. Fun, (intentionally) campy/over the top performances, extremely quotable dialogue, etc.
I would happily recommend this film to anyone who wants a good laugh, who enjoys the work(s) of the above named other directors. If you've not watched those movies or you may not be able to laugh at such topics as cults, mass suicide or all nude male revues, this may not be the film for you!
Of course, I gave it a great.
