I didn't see very many movies this year...

My favorites that I did catch in the theatre were:

  • "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (my God, can I proselytize on this movie ANY more than I have since about March or so? This movie is already in my all time faves).

  • "Super Size Me" which I think in the long run is far more an important documentary than the over-hyped "Fahrenheit 9/11".

  • "I Heart Huckabees" This one nearly defies description, but what a great comedy...and intellectual as well.

  • "A Dirty Shame" Pure John Waters. I want to bask in its glory! What an extremely funny film. I don't think I've laughed that much in ages. Tracy Ullman is a genius.

  • "Facing Windows" This was a foreign film and it so moved me. It led you to think that it was about one thing and ended up being something entirely different. Wonderful acting from all involved. TiVo it.

    • honorable mention (since it wasn't actually released in 2004): "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls"...pure trash, but in a good way. I'm so glad I got to see this on the big screen with a full crowd. An amazing experience. The music, the costumes, etc! What a feast for the eyes. God, and so QUOTABLE! "This is my happening and it freaks me out!", "You will drink the black sperm of my vengeance", " and of course, "You're a groovy boy. I'd like to strap you on sometime"

Of course, I'm sure they'll all pale to actually seeing MYSELF on the big screen tonight in "Dead House"...whoa, that's going to be weird.

Music that I'm hooked on (though it's not necessarily from 2004, it is when I first heard it):

Doris Svensson - Did You Give the World Some Love
Franz Ferdinand - Michael
The Killers - Jenny Was a Friend of Mine
Lou Courtney - Hey Joyce
William Shatner - Common People
Scissor Sisters - Take Me Out (Franz Ferdinand theme)
Gay Pimp - Soccer Practice
Butterfly Boucher - I Can't Make Me
Gavin DeGraw - Chariot

Eat This:
  • January - didn't get to go to Red Sky, 'cause we got caught in the blizzard
  • February - Tortilla Press was okay. The desserts were fantastic, but some of the dinners left something to be desired (especially Shawn's mole),
  • March - the Thai place on South St. don't remember what it was called. Do remember that it was POURING that night and that I wasn't much into the food,
  • April - Chickie and Pete's - beautiful atmosphere, loved the look of the bar, the food was okay, but not worth the drive,
  • May - Gianna's Grille - the place was a little hole in the wall that many could miss, but the food was fantastic (for counter service sandwiches, etc.). Definitely a place I intend to return to when down on South Street,
  • June - Effie's - great food, but I suggest not going in the summer. There was no air conditioner and the fans weren't cutting it that night. Otherwise the meals were great.,
  • July -Winfield's - great food, big portions, appetizers big enough to share, just didn't personally care for the desserts that night,
  • August - Coriander - we all enjoyed this one, I think, the food was great, lots to share, lots of different tastes,
  • September - the Cajun/Creole place (I don't remember the name) - bring a big appetite since the portions are HUGE, but you may also want to bring a book or a Gameboy since the service takes some time between courses,
  • October - El Vez - This would have been my favorite dinner except for the meal we had in November. Again, wonderful atmosphere, great selection of different things, the desserts were incredible, but a little on the pricy side,
  • November - Io e Tu - I LOVED this place. Very accomodating for a BIG table, they had wonderful food and even served us extra food (more appetizers and side dishes). You felt like you were in someone's home.

in 2004, we went on three big trips: the road trip to Indiana to Michael's wedding, the trip to Chicago with Jarvis for Wizard World and the Disney trip we just returned from.

I got to meet Sandra Bernhard. I also got to meet Yoshi and Dan from TechTV's "The Screen Savers" (just before it became G4TechTV and the company fired them...g4 sucks, they've really dumbed down the whole channel and are slowly eroding away at "The Screen Savers" too).

I was a bridesman in a wedding (for Kris and Becky), performed in another play (Much Ado About Nothing), saw a musical on Broadway ("Wicked"), went to the Gay Pride parade (and party afterwards) in Philly, got naked in the hot tub at Frank Cerione's party, went to the nude beach with Jarvis and Bob, and have lived in a house for the past nine months without a fully functional kitchen.

My only regret is that I didn't find the time to read more books, spending more of my time between work, the computer, the Sirius radio (Derek and Romaine and Frank DeCaro rock my world), the Tivo(s) and DVD(s) (especially now on the BIG ASS Television)...
